Parlor Coworking
A private cowork space for extraordinary women
Located at 135 McDonough St. Portsmouth, NH
Parlor is more than a workspace. It's a sanctuary designed for women to create, connect,
and thrive in a community that gets it.
For the business women and the entrepreneurs and creatives
For all of the dreamers and the doers
We see you because we are you

The History of the Parlor
Parlors were more than just rooms, they were spaces deeply intertwined with the lives and culture and pet projects and passions and even the resistance and revolutions
of women.
It was where she did all of the entertaining for the entire household. But more importantly, in an era of restricted mobility for women, the parlor was a safe and socially acceptable place to host female friends. Here, they could gather, share news, offer support, and build community over a cup of tea. From the Victorian era all the way up through the Harlem Renaissance, the parlor served as a crucial sanctuary for female connection.
And like those who came before us, we have created a space that is thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. A world away from a sterile, gray cubicle farm.
We invite you to join us in reclaiming a room that was once a symbol of restricted femininity as we transform it into a symbol of empowerment, productivity, and entrepreneurship.
A hub for professional networking and community building.
A communal setting in a safe and supportive environment where women can work, create, and thrive on their own terms.
We are not just offering desks and Wi-Fi.
We are inviting you to become part of a renaissance and an evolution of women’s spaces
Where the "parlor" is no longer a stage for performing caged femininity but a launchpad for both personal and professional growth.
All built on the timeless power of female connections.

About Us
We Built the Space We Needed.
Literally. One team of badass multi-talented women did the entire buildout of our new space. A lot of polar seltzers, giggles and saw dust, several bruises and maybe some swearing, but we did it. All girl built, bottom to top.
We built this space because we noticed that traditional coworking spaces often missed the mark for women—they felt cold, transactional, and isolating.
Parlor was founded on a simple belief: your work environment should fuel your ambition without forcing you to sacrifice your well-being. We’ve intentionally designed every detail—from the ergonomic crosslegged chairs and private phone booths to the curated event calendar and calming color palette—to support the whole you: the professional, the entrepreneur, the creator, and the person.
Our Nordic inspired workspace is located in a sunlit historic 2,500 sf space in Portsmouth’s West End. Our boutique size requires we maintain very short membership rolls to ensure guaranteed seating for everyone. Once we meet our maximum, a waitlist will be opened.
Parlor is uniquely designed to help you feel productive as well as nourished. No terrible office carpeting, no glaring overhead lights. And in true Scandic spirit, an abundance of plywood has been creatively deployed for maximum efficiency and an aesthetic joy rooted in the power of ingenuity.
Our complimentary tea and coffee bar is home to an apothecary level selection of organic loose leaf teas and herbs perfect for you to make your own bespoke blend, or try one of ours. Our coffee bar features Löfbergs, a classic family owned roastery founded in Sweden in 1906 and now run by it’s 3rd and 4th generation of Löfbergs. Perfect for a pour over or a French press.
We are a no shoes space, kick your shoes off at the door, and feel free to BYO slippers to leave here, or borrow a pair of our Moroccan babouches.
We do not use single use products. In our kitchen, the napkins are real and tea towels replace paper towels. There are no disposable utensils, cups or plates. We minimize plastics wherever possible.
Our Library and Reading Room is designed for restorative breaks, a true hygge experience with a fireplace and a knitting basket. Choose from a selection of our creative break supplies: colored pencils, embroidery, or puzzles to rebalance your right brain with your left.
Our Salon Series features monthly gatherings for our members with an expert who will share their knowledge over a cup of tea or wine. Just like the classic salons of eras past, where women hosted artists and intellectuals and revolutionaries in her parlor to disseminate knowledge, art, and culture to her nearest and dearest.

Field Trip!
Join us for an extra special off site salon with member Taylor O’Connor at Banya for
Womens Wednesday!
A women's only evening dedicated to heat, connection, and self-care led each month by a different woman from our community.
Each gathering will flow through the Banya ritual: cycles of sauna, cold plunge, and rest, paired with gentle guidance from that month’s host. You might experience meditation, movement, breathwork, or simple conversation in between rounds with each leader bringing their own touch to the evening.
This is not a class, and there’s nothing to “get right.” It’s an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and share space with other women doing the same. Whether you come solo or with a friend, you’ll leave feeling grounded, restored, and connected.
Come as you are. Step into the warmth.
